Biographies

 

Christie Nelson

Christie Nelson has been a math and science teacher at Grace Academy since 2010. She received a B.S. in Biotechnology from the University of Delaware and a M.S. in Biology from Duke University. Prior to moving to Connecticut, Christie was involved in the development of the FluMist® vaccine and in teaching and training in both industry and academia. She is married to Kevin and they have one daughter. In her teaching, she hopes to ignite the spark of curiosity inherent in each child and encourage each student to keep asking questions.

 

Junius Johnson

Junius Johnson has been with Grace Academy since its inception. He has taught Latin, Greek, and Literature and heads the classics department. He has a bachelor’s degree in English from Oral Roberts University, master’s degrees in religion and medieval studies, and a Ph.D. in theology from Yale University. He brings with him experience teaching in public and private contexts. He is also a lecturer at Yale Divinity School in Latin and theology. He is married to Rebekah who also works with Grace Academy. His love of teaching is only eclipsed by his love for the students. In addition to teaching, he writes fiction, plays golf, bass guitar, and French horn, and is an avid fan of Queen.
